Tram Guide

Tram Access included / Full Day Only / Designed for the most advanced and adventurous skiers and riders.  Tram guides will show you the ins and outs of Lone Mountain with limited instruction but full stoke. It's the best way to explore America's Biggest Skiing.|

TRAM GUIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Big Sky's Tram and upper mountain advanced terrain is thrilling, unique, and a challenge to even the most advanced skiers. Experience Big Sky's biggest offerings in confidence with our certified Tram Guides. You'll start the day off with a ride on the Lone Peak Tram for our guides to gauge your ability level. Then return back to the Tram for more, or make your way over to other areas such as the Headwaters/AZ Chutes hike. Max of 3 participants per Tram Guide. Please note that if you're looking to hike the Headwaters/AZs, ski the Big Couloir, or North Summit Snowfield, you must have a full-day guide to allow for hiking or terrain signout time allowance. 


Depending on your terrain goals your guide will equip you with avalanche safety equipment. Please arrive prepared with a lift ticket and equipment. Tram access is included with Tram Guide sessions, if you have a paid Tram Access product or Auto charge, that will be overridden.

MOUNTAIN SPORTS SCHOOL INFORMATION

Bring your own equipment or rent from Big Sky Sports Rentals. For Mountain Village and Madison Base guests, if you need rental equipment please allow for at least 30 minutes.  Montage Guests needing rental should contact Compass Sports. 

  • Children may not always ride chairlifts with an instructor.
  • Lift tickets are required during sessions and are not included in the session price.
  • Please add 4% tax. Prices are subject to change.
  • Lessons and guides are non-transferrable.
  • Please note, we may call you to get more information about what you are looking for and help you make the most of your day!

Mountain Sports Cancellation/Change Requests 

We understand that sometimes your plans change after you’ve purchased your Mountain Sports Lesson/Guide. Our credit policy allows you to receive credit for your purchase in the form of an eVoucher that may be used towards another online purchase. The full dollar amount for change requests and cancellations made 48 hours in advance of the start date will go onto a voucher. Within 48 hours no voucher will be issued. To cancel contact the Mountain Sports Office at 406-995-5743. 

Log into the Big Sky Online Store to see your voucher code and use it to purchase online products for a future visit. Vouchers generated during the 23/24 ski season will expire May 1, 2025.

Your voucher credit is based on the purchase value of your original transaction and can be applied to future online transactions until the expiration date of May 1, 2025. If there is a difference in price, you will be required to pay that difference for the new product. If you do not use all of your credit in one transaction, the remaining balance will be available on the same voucher for another purchase until the expiration of May 1, 2025. Voucher credits must be redeemed online and are not available at any outlet.

Our First Tracks Tram Guide gets you an hour of guided skiing before the resort opens, allowing you to make your way to the Lone Peak Tram first in line. You'll start off with a ride on the Lone Peak Tram for our guides to gauge your ability level. Then return back to the Tram for more, or make your way over to other areas such as the Headwaters/AZ Chutes hike.

Tram Guides meet on the snow in front of Mountain Sports School Office at the white flag that reads “Private Lessons”, unless you have arranged another meeting spot with your guide. Please arrive prepared with valid lift access and equipment. You may bring your own equipment or rent from Big Sky Sports Rentals. If you need rental equipment please allow for at least 30 minutes.
